Welcome to Plato Academy Largo Music. I am Mr. Holmes, the music teacher at Plato Academy Largo. This is currently my 11th year at Plato Academy and my 4th year at Largo.
Music education is important because of the power it has to inspire the students to reach their full potential. Instilling musical excellence in children from an early age can have a profound impact on their cognitive, emotional, and social development. Music also builds culture and community within the school environment. As Plato said, "Music is a more potent instrument than any other for education, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inner places of the soul."

Music Program
We have a developmental vocal program that provides all students the opportunity to participate in choral singing. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn how to sing. We were really proud of our children's performance in our June recording. They overcame numerous obstacles in presenting our program under difficult circumstances.
This year we will be exploring rhythm with our Djembe drums and other hand percussion instruments in addition to the choral program already in place. We will also be studying music theory. By the end of 2nd grade, all students will have a basic knowledge of reading and notation.
We look forward to seeing you at our concerts this year. The students continue to amaze us with their progress!
